Can I renew my roadtax if I have outstanding traffic summonses?

During the roadtax renewal process, Road Transport Department (JPJ) online service will check any outstanding summons and blacklist records at both JPJ and PDRM database systems. In order to proceed with this renewal, it is necessary for you to make payment for all your outstanding traffic offences recorded.

What is Vehicle Insurance?

Vehicle insurance provides financial protection against loss or damage resulting from accidents, theft, or natural disasters involving your vehicle.

Types of Car Insurance in Malaysia

In Malaysia, there are two main types of car insurance available: Comprehensive and Third-Party insurance. Comprehensive insurance covers both your vehicle and third parties.

Comprehensive vs Third-Party Insurance

First-party insurance (also known as comprehensive) offers full protection for both you and third parties. This includes accidents, fire, and theft. If you're involved in an accident or your car is stolen, you can file a claim with your insurance company. Even if the accident is your fault and another vehicle is involved, the third party can still claim through your policy. On the other hand, third-party insurance only protects third parties — meaning other people, not you. For example, if you accidentally hit another car on the highway, your insurance company will cover the compensation for the other party. However, any damage to your own vehicle will not be covered and must be borne by you.

When to Renew Car Insurance?

Car insurance must be renewed annually before its expiry date. However, you can also renew your insurance early, usually up to two months before it expires. Doing so will not affect your current policy, which will remain valid until its original end date. The renewed policy will take effect only after the current policy ends.

What is roadtax?

Roadtax is an annual tax that must be paid to legally operate a vehicle on Malaysian roads.

How to renew roadtax online?

You can renew it through the BJAK platform by adding the roadtax renewal as an add-on when purchasing your insurance — all in one quick and easy transaction.

Can roadtax be renewed without insurance?

No, roadtax can only be renewed after your insurance has been successfully renewed and is active.

What happens if roadtax renewal is delayed?

Your vehicle is not allowed on the road, and you may be fined by the Road Transport Department (JPJ).

What is the validity period of roadtax?

The roadtax is usually valid for either 6 or 12 months, depending on your choice during renewal. However, if you renew through the BJAK platform, only the 12-month (1-year) option is currently available.

Is PUSPAKOM inspection required to renew roadtax?

Only if your roadtax has expired for more than a year or if there are changes to your vehicle’s structure.

Can I renew roadtax on behalf of someone else?

Yes, as long as you have complete documentation and written consent.

How do I know if my roadtax is active?

You can check through the MyJPJ app or via confirmation email/SMS from BJAK.

What is the difference between physical and digital roadtax?

Physical roadtax is a printed sticker affixed to the vehicle’s front windscreen as proof that roadtax has been paid. Digital roadtax, on the other hand, is online proof verified through the JPJ system — no physical sticker is required.

Can outstanding summonses prevent roadtax renewal?

Yes, unpaid summonses can block the roadtax renewal process.

What payment methods are accepted for renewing insurance and roadtax?

We offer 8 different payment methods, including 3 full payment options and 5 installment plans. Full payment can be made online using credit or debit cards, via FPX (online banking), or in cash at 7-Eleven or KK Mart stores. For installment payments, you can choose from Easy Payment Plan (EPP) for credit cards, Atome, SPayLater, GrabPayLater, RiiPay, and AhaPay.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes, BJAK offers six types of installment payment options. The Easy Payment Plan (EPP) is available for credit card holders from CIMB, Ambank, Public Bank, UOB Bank, OCBC, Affin Bank, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Hong Leong, RHB, and Maybank. Atome supports credit or debit cards with a 3-month installment option. GrabPayLater offers a 4-month plan, while SPayLater allows installment terms ranging from 2 to 12 months. RiiPay is available for 3-month installments using debit or credit cards, and AhaPay supports 4-month installments with both debit and credit cards.

Is it safe to make payments online?

Yes, BJAK uses banking-grade encryption and secure technology to protect user information during online transactions.

Are there additional charges when using credit cards?

Some banks or platforms may apply a processing fee of 1% to 2%. Please check with BJAK's customer service team before making payment to confirm any potential charges.

Can I use e-wallets to make payments?

Currently, BJAK does not support e-wallet payments.

What should I do if my transaction fails?

First, check your bank account for the transaction status. If the amount was deducted but you did not receive a confirmation, contact BJAK’s customer service team for assistance.

What happens if I make a double payment?

Can I use someone else’s credit card for payment?

Unlimited Towing

VIP Rescue provides towing services anywhere, anytime with no distance limit. Each VIP Rescue subscription allows for one (1) towing request. There are no restrictions on distance or location, as long as it falls within BJAK’s coverage area. A dedicated BJAK hotline will dispatch help directly to your location. You can track the tow truck in real-time via WhatsApp. Misuse or repeated requests may void the service.

Extended Warranty

This coverage offers protection for vehicles up to 15 years old, specifically for engine and transmission damage. Repair costs will be covered up to the plan's specified limit. It does not cover wear and tear, accidents, or damage from misuse. Claims must be submitted through BJAK’s official channels and are subject to inspection. The protection limit, duration, and covered components depend on your subscription plan. Only one claim is allowed, up to a maximum of RM1,000.

Is BJAK VIP available throughout Malaysia?

What is the additional cost for BJAK VIP?

How do I activate BJAK VIP service?

How long does delivery take with VIP service?

Delivery usually takes between 1 to 3 working days after payment is completed and document verification is successful.

Will I receive physical copies of my policy and roadtax?

Yes. Once payment is completed and your insurance and roadtax are activated, BJAK will send your policy via email. For roadtax, you can choose between the digital version (via the MyJPJ app) or physical delivery to your provided address.

What should I do if I haven’t received my documents after 3 days?

Can I cancel the VIP service after payment is made?

Cancellations are only allowed before the delivery process begins. A processing fee may apply. Please contact BJAK as soon as possible for assistance.
